Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon Features Resident Company Singers
April 14th, 2009
Three young members of the Resident Company sang for about 40 guests at Opera Idaho’s first annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon, held Tuesday, April 14 at the OI Studio. Singers were chosen to represent the three institutions of higher learning represented in the Resident Company ranks:
- Kristine Nunes, soprano, Boise State University
- Matthew Johnson, tenor, Northwest Nazarene University
- Steven Slupe, bass-baritone, The College of Idaho
Each singer sang an aria, and Kristine and Steven sang the duet “La ci darem la mano” from Mozart’s Don Giovanni. A trio from the Opera Idaho Select Teen Chorus, directed by Tiffany Calas, also performed. Betsi Hodges accompanied all performers.
At the luncheon, volunteers Trish Ebsworth and Marvin Hansen, who amongst their many roles serve as hosts at Met – Live in HD broadcasts at the Edwards Theater, were given the Volunteers of the Year Award.
