2011 Outreach Tour

In an effort to introduce our younger generations to the world of opera, for the past few years Opera Idaho has toured our local schools with Opera in a Box, a program geared towards students in grades K-6. Looking to mix it up a little, this year’s outreach program toured a 50-minute condensed version of Mozart’s The Magic Flute.
Chosen for its great storyline, this magical and hilarious opera is the tale of a noble prince searching for his princess; a bumbling bird catcher hoping for a mate; and an evil queen plotting against the forces of good. This wonderful fairytale takes us through the struggles of life, finding love and searching for truth. Your children will learn how through perseverance and a little magic, the prince finds his princess, the bird catcher finds his mate and once again, wisdom and truth triumph over the powers of darkness!

We were so glad to be able to visit 19 schools. With 20 different performances we were able to introduce this wonderful art form to almost 6,500 students! We are grateful of all the letters and emails we received and hope to continue with this tradition for many years.
Here are some of the wonderful letters we received from the students. Click each picture for a larger version.
